Chestnut Commerce Center – $1 Million Solar Grant
Two years ago, Ray Harner, owner of Chestnut Commerce Center, was approached by multiple individuals interested in using his facility for Bitcoin mining. Recognizing the strategic value of his substation and access to inexpensive electricity, Ray began exploring opportunities to maximize the site’s energy potential.
Industry: Warehouse & Data Center
Sustainability Solution: Solar Array
Results:
- The project produces an estimated 1.2 million kilowatt hours annually, offsetting 19% of the facility’s energy usage and delivering $83,600 in electric bill savings every year.
- 100% of the $1.9 million project was funded through state and federal incentive programs including Investment Tax Credit, Accelerated Depreciation, and USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
- With Viridi’s help, Ray will be selling his Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), generating an estimated additional $35,000 in revenue annually.
