The PJM Energy Efficiency Rebate, the one program that rewards peak demand reduction rather than kilowatt hour reduction, will be going away soon. Don’t wait – be sure to reach out while there’s still time for Viridi to assist you in monetizing your energy efficiency projects.
For qualifying projects installed between July 1, 2023 and March 31, 2025, businesses can earn up to $50 per kW reduced.
This is ideal for large projects that have been recently completed and reduce at least 50 kW in peak demand, such as:
- LED lighting
- HVAC
- Compressed air
- Motors / VFDs
- Refrigeration
- Building controls
Rebate payments will be remitted in four installments starting in September 2025.
Why would someone pay me for my increased efficiency?
PJM, our regional grid operator, has to ensure long-term grid reliability and the ability to meet predicted future energy demand. When you complete an energy efficiency project and own the capacity rights to the energy you reduced, you can choose to offer your reduction into the PJM Capacity Market (Reliability Pricing Model RPM) and receive credit for this load reduction. You help the grid become more stable and earn cash for doing so!
